Introduction
VK2AWA Contest Group Inc. was formed primarily by a group of Radio Amateurs, who all share the passion of Amateur Radio Contesting. Our members come from the Hunter Valley, Lake Macquarie and the Central Coast areas within New South Wales.
We strive to promote the principals, spirit and art of Amateur Radio Contesting in a friendly and positive environment. We also look forward to nurturing others that wish to follow this path.
Our inaugural contest was the 2008 Remembrance Day Contest where we operated from Rathmines. We achieved first in the Open HF section of this contest.
We at VK2AWA would like to acknowledge Mr Robert Colsell, who was the previous owner of this callsign. Mr Colsell was a highly respected and distinguished Member of the Coffs Harbour Amateur Radio Club.
Club Activities & Events
Our first Contest, the Australian/New Zealand and Papua New Guinean Remembrance Day Contest where we operated from Rathmines Air Base just south of Newcastle. We came first in the Open HF section of this contest.
