The Scout communication and Technology Team provides programme activities for Scouts of all ages in Amateur Radio, Electronics and Computers/Internet.

We promote JOTA-JOTI and enable Groups to participate.

We offer courses and assessments for the Foundation amateur Radio License.

We provide opportunities for young people to develop their on-air skills and knowledge of Amateur Radio by he,ping them to participate in contests, field days etc.

Membership is open to any Scout Association member.


The Team has its own headquarters, the Peter Hughes Scout Communications Centre, consisting of a Scout Hall, storage rooms, a separate radio shack, toilets and showers, and close to an acre of ground, giving space for antennas and camping.

The PHSC Centre is locate at 2 Gibbs St, East Cannington, W.A., on the corner of Welshpool Road. Please note that Google maps incorrectly shows an entry to Gibbs St from Welshpool Road. This is incorrect. To access Gibbs St from Welshpool Road you must drive to Station St or Wharf St and go around the bock.

The team meets weekly on Friday nights.

Club Activities & Events

We provide:
Activity evenings for youth members. These evenings consist of electronics, Amateur Radio or computers, sometimes a mix of all of these.

We support:
Scouting events by providing an activity base, usually including a portable Amateur Radio Station.

We Train:
We conduct Foundation License training and assessments for Scouts of all ages.

Foundation courses are set out in the Scouts WA programme diary. Courses can be arranged for other dates by negotiation.
