DXCC Open Award

Award Description

This award is available to all Radio Amateurs who submit evidence of having worked 100 approved entities in various bands and modes. i.e. Open = combined Phone, CW, Data.

Rules

Approved entities are those that are accepted for ARRL DXCC Awards, contacts are valid from 1st. January 1946, with the WIA reserving the right to make different decisions in regard to additions and deletions. Special endorsements can be requested for all approved single or combined modes and frequencies.

All claimed QSO's must be made from the same DXCC entity. Submissions are approved using multiple callsigns providing they are contained to one DXCC country.
Multiple Callsign applications licensed under the same name can only be accepted "once" and are not transferable, they will be registered under the Callsign of the application. (i.e. VK1XXX, VK2XXX, VK3XXX, VK4XXX, = VK5XXX). identify their names, the Certificate is awarded to the Club or Association Callsign in the applications name. The operator must identify his/her membership of the Radio Club or Association in the application.
Club Stations may also apply for this award providing that the operators Callsigns and Names are nominated on the QSL cards as the person who made the contacts, the Certificate is awarded to the Club Callsign in the registered Official Club or Association name. WIA members that have achieved DXCC from an overseas entity may also apply for this award.
Approved un-assisted Modes and approved Entities: Phone = (SSB, FM). CW. Note: HF Phone FM is restricted to 10m. (29Mhz) only. Data = Digital, RTTY, Baudot, ASCII, Amtor, Packet, Packtor, PSK, JT, MFSK, MT, AFSK, Narrow Band FSK. Image = MMSSTV, SSTV, ATV, FAX. (EME). DXCC Approved Entity list total = 338 Dated Dec 2007. (Deleted Entities = 58) WIA DXCC Honour Roll list is set at -9 Dx Entities. = 329 Dated Dec 2007.
WIA DXCC Standings Program: Having obtained the basic DXCC award, Certificate holders are invited to join our extended DXCC program to gain progressive rewards and certificates.
Progressive totals are published twice a year in Amateur Radio Magazine and alternatively on our WIA Awards website, listed in various categories. e.g. Phone-CW-Open-Data-Sat-SSTV-Fax including DXCC Excellence and Honour Roll sections.
The DXCC Standings indicate the total of valid entities worked and the total of approved deleted entities e.g. 200/220 meaning 200 current entities and an extra 20 entities that have been deleted at some time, but were worked before the date of deletion are totaled together. If there has been no Deleted countries worked at all the tally will look like this e.g. 200/200. Should an entity be deleted from the WIA DXCC list, credit for that entity will be allowed if worked before the date of deletion your progress totals will change and your awards stay honoured.

Applications for higher totals should be made in multiples of 25 up to a total of 200 and thereafter in multiples of 10 up to a total of 325. Special achievement award labels are available at 125, 150, 175, 200, 225, 250, 275, 300, 325. After a total of 325 is reached applications will be processed in one entity steps or as required. WIA Honour Roll Award Label is issued at the qualifying period, it is nine less of the total DXCC entity list. WIA DXCC Excellence Award Label is issued at the qualifying period of working the total DXCC entity list.

DXCC updates must be accompanied with our WIA official “update” Data Sheet, signed and completed as per our general rules.
Special fast email update service is available for Australian WIA members that use WIA smart documents including the scanned checkers signature sheet.
Scanned original QSL cards will be accepted if they show no signs of any alterations, both sides must be shown in .jpg file formatted to a minimum of 72dpi. Sized not less or greater than 640x480 with a max: file size of 300kb and emailed in groups of 2 or 3 files at a single time, this only applies to DXCC updates and used for claiming award achievements.
Members participating in this program have two free DXCC updates per membership year.
Notes: ("Single Award including Open", information) A separate Application is required for each Award, for multiple Awards copy this file and re-title. Claimed contact documentation consist of 10 data sheets. Data sheets 1-8 list all approved DXCC entities and Data sheets 9-10 list all deleted entities.
All hard copy information should be entered in capital letters, computer file upper and lower case as required. Front cover sheet 1. must be completed, printed in hard copy, signed, dated and posted to the Awards Manager.
The Application may be submitted as hard copy or as an Excel file "zipped" and emailed to the Awards Manager.

Please use the QUAD+ DXCC Master Form (Phone,CW,Data,Image & Open). All-in-one Single/Open DXCC record form - Available from the Awards Information page in the "Files for Download" section.

Operators using the facility of a registered Official Club Station can also apply for this award providing all contacts identify their names. The Certificate is awarded to the Club or Association Callsign in the applications name.

The operator must identify his/her membership of the Radio Club or Association in the application.
