Operation of the special event call on the evening of Friday the 14th of May by WIA President Michael Owen VK3KI marks the commencement of the six month period through which VK100WIA will be on the air. Saturday the 15th the call sign will be on air from Perth with WIA Director Bob Bristow VK6POP and on Sunday the 16th WIA Centenary committee member Jim Linton VK3PC will be put the call to air in Melbourne, on the 2m band after the transmission of the WIA National News broadcast and then on other HF bands as conditions permit.
