AM &amp\; CW event organized by Mike &quot\;Banjo&quot\; Patterson
VK4MIK and the Tablelands Radio Group of Far North Queensland\, will
again take to the air for the 7th year. This is not a contest. It
honours those modes used by service personnel in earlier wars -AM and

&quot\;Banjo&quot\; Patterson VK4MIK and World War II Coastwatcher in
 Papua New Guinea\, Lionel Veale.\n
The annual event involves ex-military
sites and related museums. It includes the Gnarly Net on 3600kc AM/ 3599
CW with CW from 1930Z and AM from 2030Z and the Friendly Afternoon Net
 on 7115kc from 0600Z in Northern Queensland.\n
Ex HMAS Diamantina will
be operating as VK4RAN from 0300 to 0700UTC on CW on 7020/7025kc and
14038/14052kc plus/minus. It was operational during World War II.\n
The
Tableland Radio Group will be operating from Rocky Creek War Memorial
Park Igloo near Atherton\, with the Callsign VK4GHL.\n
The Tablelands
Radio and Electronics Club hope to operate using AX4WAT from the TREC
Clubrooms using a home brew AM transceiver.\n
The Amateurs from Ingham\,
in North Queensland\, hope to be operating from the Herbert River RSL
and will be operating on a range of frequencies with the callsign
 AX4MS.\n
More stations will be also operating and switching to the old
 modes during the day. \n
The Townsville Amateur Radio Club will be
active on the callsign AX4WIT from the Club Rooms in Green
Street\,\nwhich were part of the camouflage used to protect the RAAF WW2
Pacific Theatre Communications Centre\nfrom enemy bombing. AX4WIT will
be operational from 0001Z AM and CW on 7115kc \n
