Introduction
The Brisbane Amateur Radio Club was started in 1977. The club meets at a club facility inside the Rochedale scouts complex 21 Rochedale Road Rochedale.
Visitors are always welcome to attend our meetings and if you wish to join the club complete the application and email it to the club treasurer. Our annual fee is $45.00 or under 18's $20.00.
Meetings
Club shack days at Rochedale are the second and fourth Saturday of every month. They are a great mix of social and amateur radio related discussion, starting at 11AM with a sausage sizzle.
We meet online every Thursday night at 8PM for tech talks and general amateur radio related discussion. We also chat a bunch on the club Discord server in between meetings.
The club has a number of members that are very active in Parks on the Air (POTA) and Summits on the Air (SOTA). We are always keen to get anyone interested along on an activation to see what it’s all about. The club also has a remote HF setup for members to use, for hunting POTA/SOTA activators, HF nets or just HF DX.

Training Courses And Assessment Information
The club currently has multiple ACMA accredited assessors to help members obtain or upgrade their licence. No fee or membership required to come and sit an exam with us.
We recommend the Radio and Electronics School (https://res.net.au/). They offer a range of training courses for Foundation, Standard and Advanced at very reasonable prices.
We also have a number of knowledgeable members that can assist with building of understanding of key topics required for the exam as you work through the course material.
Upcoming Courses and Assessments
The Club aims to provide for the conduct of assessments on the 2nd Saturday of each month @ 9.30AM.
The calendar for assessments is kept up to date on our Club Website. Please check https://barc.org.au/calendar/ for the latest information and to confirm it is programmed to occur.
If you wish to sit an exam, you need to confirm with the Chief Assessor (exams@barc.org.au) to ensure there are sufficient assessors available on the day.
