SUMMARY:AM and CW on Anzac Day
DESCRIPTION:Brief Description: Amateur Radio rememberance to those who
served or are still serving\n\nDetailed Description: The AM and CW on
Anzac Day event come about after a conversation between Lionel Veale ex
Sgt Coastwatcher during WW2 and Mike Patterson VK4MIK - I served in the
RAN for 21years. Lionel used radios to transmit coded intelligence by CW
mode.\nI thought it would be a good way us as Amateurs to salute those
who served or are still serving by using the old radio modes of AM and
CW on Anzac Day and if possible at ex Defence sites. Many Radio Amateurs
served Australia.\nThis event has operated for well over 10 years and
has proved very successful as many discovered AM mode and used it for
the first time and others used home brew CW rigs.\nIn Queensland the
Townsville Amateur Radio Club operated as Net Control from their Club
Rooms\, an ex WW2 Command Bunker. \nThe net operates on 7.125 AM all day
with many using old radios. It also commences at 0500 on 3.599 CW then
to AM on 3.600AM.\nStations across Australia also operate on that day
and its not a contest but simply make contact using old modes.\n
