About David Wardlaw

David Wardlaw VK3ADW has served amateur radio for over five decades starting with the WIA Victorian Division Council. Serving as Federal President 1973-1979 and 1984-1988. While living overseas in the 1960s held both British and Canadian callsigns. In 1968 he was present at the meeting that started the IARU Region 3, serving as a director 1988-94 and 1997-99, retiring to take up the position of IARU Vice-President which he held for five years.

David on his retirement from that major international position was honoured for his substantial contributions resulting in favourable outcomes for the amateur service and amateur satellite service. He attended his first ITU World Radio Conference in 1979 and continues to have a deep interest in international affairs and the WIA. A life member of the Institute he also received the WIA's Ron Wilkinson Achievement Award in 1979 and the G. A. Taylor Medal in 1992.
