About Diane Main

I was first licensed in 1978 as VK6NGQ in Kalgoorlie WA, upgraded to Limited (no CW) in 1980 and obtained the second call VK6ZYL. This became VK6KYL once the Intermediate license was introduced and the other 2 calls were not used. We moved to the Lockyer Valley in 2004 and I obtained VK4KYL. I then obtained VK4HH once the CW requirement was dropped and this was used as our JOTA and Contest call until recently. I subsequently replaced VK4KYL with VK4DI. Bill has since acquired VL4R for contesting.

I use VK4DI for normal day to day operating.
Bill Hockley VK6AS (SK) introduced both Bill (VK4ZD) and I to contesting in 1978 /1979 during the RD Contest.

Bill & I ran the Goldfields Scouts station in Kalgoorlie for 25 years using VK6SZ.

We have been doing JOTA for the Girl Guides for many years now with the girls and leaders camping here for the weekend.

We have a 2 station ham shack on a 5 acre property in the Lockyer Valley and are constantly looking at ways to improve the station.
We also enjoy building antennas and are slowly adding more to the property.

My favourite AR activities are DXing, Contesting and running Special event calls. I predominantly use SSB, although I have been doing FT8 and FT4 more recently.
