About Julian (Jules) Perrin

I joined the Navy at the tender age of 15 in 1969 as an engineering apprentice. After the Navy I ventured overseas and gained my first amateur licence (VR4DJ) in the British Solomon Island Protectorate (BSIP), now the Solomon Islands, in 1976. On returning to Australia in 1978, I joined the Air Force as a communications technician. In 1982 I achieved my Limited licence. Postings around Australia gave me the opportunity of several call signs over the years. After a hiatus of several years, I re-entered the hobby on an Advanced licence when I retired in 2012.
