About Peter Young
I am retired after 21 years in the Commonwealth public service with the Australian Communications and Media Authority, 15 years of which was as Regional Manager - Southern Australia. Prior to joining the public service I had 17 years in the maritime communications and electronics industry. Part of that time was as a seagoing ship's radio officer.
I was first licensed in 1964 and VK2BPY and started out building my first CW transmitter. Later I become interested in digital modes (RTTY) which I still play around with today. I am mainly stick on 40 meters but have been known to dabble in VHF/UHF modes. I am interested in portable HF operations and get away for the John Moyle Field day.
Am a keen 4WD person and have fitted my landcruiser out with portable HF station.
Have been known to throw a line in the water and wait for the fish to take the bait.
Married with three childern and two grandchildren.
