About the Archive - some background information

This page provides more specific information about the Archive, its activities and facilities.

It will be some years before the Archive is fully operational, however, to some extent we are "open for business"!
Over the past few years, many family historians have been assisted with basic information and some clubs have been supplied with historical material pertaining to their district. In addition, a number of authors have been assisted with information.

Accessible material in the Archive.

Callsign information is currently, the most frequently sought. We now have all known Callbooks and Callsign Listings scanned from 1912 to current date so it is possible to locate information on the basis of Callsign, Name or Address reasonably quickly.

Oral History

As amateurs, most of us understand the technologies of modern sound or video recording. Provided we brush up on the requirements of gathering oral history, we should be in a good position to faithfully preserve our past.
.

We are lucky that some preservation work was commenced many years ago by earlier amateurs and the Archive holds many interesting recordings; however it is now our responsibility to build on their work.

The links below provide information about collecting Oral History.

Talk to that "Old-Timer" at your club, ask him or her about their early activities or their employment. You may be surprised what results!
