WIA Board Invites Comment on Draft Postal Ballot for Director Regulations

Date : 24 / 08 / 2005
Author : Michael Owen - VK3KI

Clause 14.1 (c) of the WIA Constitution says, in part, that "The Board may determine that the election of Directors be conducted by postal ballot with the result of the election to be announced at the annual general meeting. A postal ballot shall be conducted in accordance with the regulations made by the Board from time to time."

The Board has decided that the election of Directors shall be conducted by postal ballot. If the election was confined to those in attendance at the AGM, then the members from one geographic are would be favoured, and so a postal ballot is seen as the only fair way to elect directors.

As the first election of directors will take place at or be announced at the next AGM which will be held in the first half of next year, the Board has approved a draft of the regulations that it s required to make, and has placed the draft on the WIA website, (copy below) and has invited all members to read the draft, and if they have any suggestions or comments, to send them to the WIA Secretary, either by mail to the national office or by email to secretary@wia.org.au by 20 September 2005
