Author : Peter Clee - VK8ZZ

The Board of the WIA have published details of requirements to be followed by VK1WIA National News rebroadcast stations.

Stations wishing to rebroadcast the weekly WIA National News need to comply with the provisions of a common license which has been introduced.

There is no significant change to re-broadcast arrangements for most rebroadcast stations.

The Common License is published on the WIA web site and details some important aspects which need to be followed by re-broadcast stations.

The Common License states that :-

The broadcast is copyright to the Wireless Institute of Australia.

Ownership of WIA content is retained by the WIA.

The content of the broadcast shall not be modified, edited, or used to create derivative works without prior written consent from the Secretary of the WIA.

The Licensee shall rebroadcast in audio or video only within the limitations of that stations license and within the terms of the License Conditions Determination for that station.

The WIA acknowledges and respects the ownership rights of the creator of material used in the program which was not created solely by the Wireless Institute of Australia.

The Common License shall commence on 31st July 2025 and rebroadcast stations need to be compliant on and from 1 August 2025. A copy of the Common license is available at the link below.

Rebroadcast stations who cannot meet the requirements of the Common License should contact the WIA Secretary for advise.

Notification of the copyright provisions and the requirement to follow the common license will be included at the beginning of the broadcast.
