Introduction
ALARA was formed in 1975 by a small group of Australian ladies interested in amateur radio. Membership has now grown to over 200, with many Australian members sponsoring overseas YLs into ALARA on a reciprocal basis.
The term YL stands for Young Lady, regardless of age.

Club Activities & Events
The ALARA Contest is held the last full weekend of August every year.
ALARAMEET is held every third year in a different state each time. The 2008 Alarameet is being held in Ulverstone Tasmania in September. Contact the Secretary for details.
Monthly luncheons are held in some states, contact the Secretary for details.
