10GHz WSJT EME Beacon Back On Air

Date : 25 / 07 / 2019
Author : WIA

Thanks to Rex VK7MO for passing on this wonderful story about the 10GHz EME Beacon via Moon-Net.

Per Dudek PE1ITR is part of a group who provides a fantastic facility for the microwave EME community – a 10GHz WSJT Beacon DL0SHF from Germany. It has been off the air for a while and Per let the list know the following…

The 10GHz beacon has been repaired and installed. The repair of the PA was done by Charlie G3WDG.

After installing, Per tried to switch on the beacon, but the water cooling system did not work. Taking the cover off the box he noticed a bird with 5 very young, still naked chicks had established their home inside the beacon box. Per initially said I’m afraid the beacon will have to wait until they have left their home!

Per checked a day later and the Mum and chicks had moved on so, the beacon is now back operating.

Beacon status can be found at Link
