So whats the Deal ?

On the evening of Thursday the 24th of February the good ship Wanderlust Two will depart from Yaringa boat harbor for a training evening in the lead up to the official nine day DXpedetion to Deal Island IOTA OC 195 commencing 18th March and running through 26th March 2011 (weather permitting).

The evening Sail will be followed by a full day of training on Westernport bay where the team of six will learn and practice the safe transfer of people and equipment between yacht and rubber dingy which is be used to shuttle the operation between the yacht and shore.

Wanderlust 2 (pictured above) is a 50 foot Steel Ketch owned by Les VK3MLM a very seaworthy vessel capable of carrying the full HF Station and team of six operators. The Callsign VK7DI has been applied for, it has special significance having been used for a previous activation of Deal Island in 1996. The DXpedition station will be set up at Garden Cove on the Island.
