Ron Bertrand Steps Down

Date : 12 / 02 / 2010
Author : Michael Owen - VK3KI

Ron Bertrand VK2DQ, who has been a director of the WIA since May 2008, had indicated his intention not to seek re-election this year, and notices calling for nominations were published in the December issue of Amateur Radio.

Ron subsequently indicated that for health reasons he wished to retire earlier, and accordingly the Board has accepted his resignation as a director with effect from 1 February 2010.

In doing so the Board expressed its regret and acknowledged the great contribution that Ron has made to both amateur radio and the WIA, particularly in the examination field, having worked extensively on behalf of the WIA with ACMA in the formulation of the syllabi for the various levels of amateur qualification, and after that as a Nominated Assessor, conducting many special assessments.
