Pierce Healy VK2APQ celebrates his 99th birthday
The WIA extends its congratulations to Pierce Healy VK2APQ on the celebration of his 99th birthday on 13 August 2010. Pierce gained his Amateur licence at the beginning of World War 2 but could not get on air at that time. In the 1950’s he was a member of NSW Division Council and later President. Whilst President, Pierce prepared and read the VK2WI morning bulletin. He served many years as VK2 Federal Councillor. Pierce was particularly well known for his Amateur radio notes that were published in Radio and Hobbies, the predecessor of Electronics Australia.
Geoff Atkinson - VK3AFA
Pierce is a Life Member of the WIA and ARNSW. He is still a regular voice on VK2WI Sunday callback. We extend our best wishes to Pierce on this momentous occasion and wish him well as he enters his centenary year.
