The Board of the WIA announced that the Club Grants Scheme for 2011 would support projects falling in to two categories;

1) Projects and activities to be conducted before 1 June 2012 to attract new amateurs, but focussed on people under 25; and
2) Amateur radio projects that are useful and innovative and that utilise both information technologies and radio communications.

Applications for this year’s grants closed on 25 July 2011.

Despite being advertised in AR magazine, on the WIA website and clubs receiving a direct email reminder last week, only three applications were received. WIA President Michael Owen VK3KI said “I am very surprised and a little disappointed that only three clubs have chosen to participate this year”.
