Date : 08 / 03 / 2019
Author : WIA/ALARA

March 8th 2019 is International Womens Day and the theme is "balance is better".

A balanced world is a better world. How can you help forge a more gender-balanced world? Celebrate women's achievement. Raise awareness against bias. Take action for equality.

The Australian Ladies Amateur Radio Association is a very public face of women in amateur radio and is celebrating woman's achievements in this great hobby of amateur radio for over 40 years.

ALARA was formed in 1975 and has over 200 members, with many Australian members sponsoring overseas YLs into ALARA.

The term “YL” stands for “young lady” – regardless of age.

The Associations mission is to encourage women’s interest and active participation in amateur radio.

If interested in what ALARA get up to then take a look at their webpages and make contact with your local ALARA representative.
