WIA Conference Weekend Starts in Just Four Days!

Date : 19 / 05 / 2019
Author : WIA

There are three remaining presentations that feature as part of the WIA Conference weekend.

The first is to be given by Andrew Davis VK1DA and is titled Summits on the Air (SOTA) and will be given at 14:40 on Saturday 25th May 2019.

Andrew is VK2 SOTA Association Manager and recruited and coordinated the efforts of a team of about ten surveyors who combed through many summit lists and topographic maps to arrive at the initial list of almost 1200 VK2 summits.

Andrew achieved Mountain Goat status in 2018 and is well qualified to speak about SOTA. He will give a practical outline of what is needed to participate in the program and how successful it has been. Andrew will also cover the links between SOTA and the WWFF parks award. He also says he will explain why SOTA is a wife-approved radio activity!

The remaining two presentations will be taking place at Dural on Sunday 26th May (13:00 & 13:50). The first will be given by Rob Dolphin VK2DIO and is titled AllStar Linking and will cover how to link repeaters around the world using Allstar Linking.

The second Dural presentation is by Alex Stewart VK2PSF and is on Digital Mode Hotspots. He will give a quick view of several of the digital mode hotspots including information about the networking, configuration and usage of the different systems.

A reminder about our friends at Icom helping out with a cool piece of kit as a prize. ICOM and RF Solutions have come to the party by sponsoring the event with an IC-7300 to be drawn as a prize.

To celebrate the event, RF solutions have also made available 10 x black ID-51Aplus2 handhelds at a discount price of $495.00 (inc GST). They will be available to collect on Saturday the 26th at the AGM. To order, call Carsten, 07 3264 6443 (www.rfsolutions.com.au) Link

The IC 7300 will be drawn following Saturday nights dinner. All delegates who attend the full day conference and also attend the dinner will receive one chance to enter the draw. Additional tickets can be purchased on the day for $20 each, or $50 for 3.
