Mike was the creator of the very popular VKCL Contesting logging software.
Mikes leaves behind a tremendous legacy of his hard and dedicated work and his love for Amateur Radio.
The WIA Board sends its sincerest condolences to Mike's family and friends.

The message below was received from Peter Forbes VK3QI and reproduced here with permission.

For those of you who have used the contest logging program VKCL over the last 20 years:

Good evening,
I am sorry to inform everyone that Mike VK3AVV / VK3JV passed away this afternoon, Wednesday January 5th after a long illness.

I have spoken with Mike’s wife, Tammy and she has asked that all members of the EMDRC understand that Mike held a particular fondness for his friends in the club.

Funeral arrangements have yet to be made, but it is likely to be a private religious affair and with covid restrictions. When further details are available, I will notify the members.

I am sure that the wider amateur fraternity will miss Mike’s particular skills, especially those contesters who have benefited from his logging programs over the past 20 years.

Fraternally yours

Peter VK3QI / VJ3P
