During the VK Summit held in Albury on 2 may 2026.

The VK Summit was a resounding success, congratulations to the Albury Wodonga Amateur Radio Club on a successful event.

During the Dinner event on the Saturday evening of the 2nd May, a link to astronaut Chris Williams Ph.D. an amateur with the personal callsign KJ5GEW who is on the International Space Station was established.

Scout leader Matt Griesshaber of the Victoria Scouts supervised the event with Stephen Vassallo VK4SJV the ARISS moderator. There were 13 Scouts Victoria members who chatted with Chris Williams and asked a series of questions about the ISS.

The contact was performed using the ARISS telebridge network, a world-wide network of amateur radio ground stations that enable students to contact the ISS.

ARISS is an International consortium of volunteers from several nations that assist to develop and operate the amateur radio equipment on board the International Space Station.
