Don't Miss the Next WIA Affiliated Club Governance Webinars

Following the strong response to the first WIA Affiliated Club Governance Webinar, the Wireless Institute of Australia is reminding club executives that the next two sessions in the program are coming up. The first webinar attracted excellent participation and generated many positive comments from clubs, and we don't want committees to miss the remaining opportunities.

The training is being delivered by Associations Forum, an organisation specialising in governance, operations, membership and financial management for associations, charities, clubs and other not-for-profit organisations. The WIA is providing these professional development opportunities free of charge to all WIA Affiliated Clubs as part of its expanding program of support for clubs around Australia.

Incorporated Clubs: Governance Webinar No. 2

The second Governance Webinar for Incorporated Clubs will be held this Sunday 27 September from 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm AEST.

The session will cover important governance topics including the roles and responsibilities of Boards, committees and executive members, together with the structures under which different organisations operate. This includes organisations such as the WIA, which is a public company limited by guarantee, as well as incorporated associations operating under state and territory legislation.

This is valuable training for all club committee members, regardless of how experienced they may be in their role. Clubs are strongly encouraged to have additional committee members participate. Good governance is not simply the responsibility of the President or Secretary. A committee works considerably better when everyone around the table understands their responsibilities.

Thinking About Incorporation?

A separate webinar has also been arranged for unincorporated WIA Affiliated Clubs interested in learning more about incorporation and the advantages it may offer their organisation.

That session will be held on Sunday 18 October from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm AEST and will provide clubs with an opportunity to better understand incorporation before considering whether it is appropriate for them.

These webinars form part of the WIA's broader commitment to strengthening its relationship with Affiliated Clubs and providing practical resources that help clubs operate effectively. The WIA's affiliation framework specifically accommodates clubs whether incorporated or unincorporated, making governance support relevant across the diversity of amateur radio organisations around Australia.

If your club executives haven't received the reminder, please check your Club Executive's spam or junk mail folder first. If you still cannot locate it, contact Angelo at Clubs@nationaloffice.wia.org.au.

There is no charge to WIA Affiliated Clubs for this training. The first webinar demonstrated there is considerable interest among clubs in improving governance knowledge, so make sure your committee takes advantage of the remaining sessions.
