A recently released independent website, LEO.space, brings together satellite tracking, orbital information, space weather and a particularly useful collection of tools for the amateur radio satellite community.
The site describes itself as an independent information and tracking service focused on launches, low-Earth-orbit infrastructure, satellite operations and amateur radio.
For radio amateurs, the most interesting part is the dedicated Ham Radio Comms section. Operators can use their location to calculate upcoming amateur satellite passes, including AOS and LOS, maximum elevation and Doppler information. The site's "Your Sky Now" feature also identifies amateur satellites currently above the operator's horizon and highlights promising passes during the next 24 hours.
There's also a filterable Amateur Satellite Picker, covering FM voice, packet/APRS and SSB linear satellites with uplink and downlink frequencies, bands, operating information and expected Doppler shift. Individual entries include familiar targets such as the ISS APRS digipeater, ISS voice operations, AO-73 and other amateur spacecraft.
Beginners aren't forgotten either. LEO.space includes a getting-started guide covering everything from a dual-band handheld and portable directional antenna through to full-duplex radios, SDR receivers and automated azimuth/elevation tracking stations. It also explains frequencies and Doppler correction, rather than assuming newcomers were issued an orbital-mechanics textbook with their callsign.
Another useful feature is the integration of space-weather and HF propagation information alongside satellite tracking. LEO.space says its orbital information draws on sources including CelesTrak and Space-Track, while its space-weather display uses NOAA information. The site is also developing further amateur-radio features, including audio AOS/LOS alerts, a multi-satellite pass calendar and an ISS APRS heard log.
For anyone interested in amateur satellites, ARISS, APRS, portable satellite operation or simply discovering what is passing overhead, LEO.space is well worth exploring and bookmarking.
