New Peace Messenger Cities contest announced.

Date : 06 / 01 / 2010
Author : Robert Broomhead - VK3DN

Rajko Vavdi- S54X from radio club S59DCD has written to the WIA and asked for our help publicising a brand new World Wide PMC contest which will take place on the 9th and 10th of January 2010. What makes this contest special for Australian amateurs is that both MELBOURNE and WOLLONGONG are both Peace Messenger Cities and therefore qualify as multipliers in the contest.

The idea of the PMC contest is to promote contacts between stations located in Peace Messenger Cities and the rest of the world. The contest operates 24 hours of operating time from 1200UTC Saturday to 1200 UTC Sunday, every second full weekend of January. Bands will be 3.5, 7, 14, 21 and 28MHz, CW and SSB. It is a contest and certificates will be awarded to leading stations from 1st to 5th place in each category and section, and in each continent, according to number of entries.
