SARL member pays a visit to the WIA office.

Hans van de Groenendaal ZS6AKV, a member of SARL Council with responsibility for Regulatory Affairs and Marketing and also executive Chairman of the South African Amateur Radio Development Trust (SAARDT) visited the WIA office to meet with President Michael Owen VK3KI, Director Peter Young VK3MV, Mal Brooks VK3FDSL Manager and Geoff Atkinson VK3AFA, Secretary where discussions about amateur radio in our respective countries was had. Many common topics emerged including education, exams, licences, callsigns, bandplans and the need to attract new amateurs.

SAARDT looks at various technologies and activities that drive amateur radio. SAARDT is dedicated to the development of amateur radio in South Africa with a special interest in the youth. The organisation is funded by donations and supports the South African Radio League and SA AMSAT.

Hans was presented with a Centenary satchel and 2010 callbook as a memento of his visit to the WIA office during the centenary year. Hans is pictured with President Michael in front of the display of some of the congratulatory plaques received from overseas societies on the occasion of the centenary dinner in Canberra.
