Project manage amateur radio events

Author : Jim Linton - VK3PC

When an event is multifaceted and involves a team of people then a planned approach is most likely to get superior results. The Lockyer Valley Radio & Electronics Club VK4WIL has done just that as it plans to put the special callsign VK100WIA on air, Saturday the 21st through to Monday the 23rd.of August. Club Treasurer and Project Manager for the activity, Alan Shannon VK4SN says many hours have been put into VK100WIA activity and without a planning document things could be missed or overlooked.

The document is sent to the club committee and others assisting with the project so they can personally track what has and needs to be done. It includes logistics, sponsorship, event rostering, media liaison and publicity. The aims are to achieve measurable outcomes including level of participation, increased club membership and maximising the contacts over the three-day roster slot.

The WIA Centenary Committee is delighted that Alan VK4SN has provided a copy of the project plan and agreed to its request that it be made available through the WIA website for the interest of all radio clubs.

All the best to the members of the Lockyer Valley Radio & Electronics Club and their activation of VK100WIA.
