The untimely Passing of Geoff Taylor VK5TY

David Box VK5OV has advised of the passing of Geoff Taylor VK5TY. Geoff was a well-deserved life member of the WIA and will be sadly missed by many, both from within the hobby and generally. Jim McLachlan, Vice President of the Adelaide Hills Amateur Radio Society reports Geoff passed away on Tuesday the 21st of June, while on holidays in England. He had decided to have a short nap in a chair after dinner following a busy day and died in his sleep.

Geoff was licensed as VK5ZCQ in the late 50's and then transferred to VK5TY in the early sixties. Geoff will remember as a respected elder Statesman of The WIA in South Australia. He had carried out the duties of Federal Councilor for South Australia and President of the division, also as a Commissioner Scout Radio, Site coordinator for the refurbishing the Burly Griffin Building as the State Head Quarters of the SA Division, WICEN Director and in his spare time ran an amateur radio school. It is easy to under stand from the above list why he was a life member of the WIA. Geoff is survived by his wife Christine VK5CTY son Murray and Daughters Marion, Greta and Heather".
