The Wireless Institute of Australia (WIA) annual general meeting weekend in Hahndorf is so well attended it has resulted in one event changing to a larger venue. Due to the strong bookings received, the May 19 Friday night Gourmet Pizza meal has been moved to an even bigger venue – the Adelaide Hills Convention Centre. This change will be on the official weekend program hand-out as well as the WIA website.

Bookings for the weekend are now closed with 259 people in total registered for some aspect of the weekend. For the Friday night Gourmet Pizza dinner there were 170 people, the Saturday annual general meeting and Open Forum 157, the Saturday afternoon technical sessions 177 with 41 booked for the partners tour. On Saturday night the WIA annual dinner has 200, the motor museum tour 85, and for the Sunday night BBQ at the Hahndorf footy club 169.

Also during Sunday there will be numerous free displays having interest for many attending the weekend and day trippers arriving too for those events and activities, these will be at the Hahndorf football oval.

The WIA has also decided not to stream this year’s AGM and Open Forum proceedings. This was a difficult decision following the success of streaming at last year's AGM on Norfolk Island. However in the current heated climate the Board elected to be very cautious about a media channel that offered no ability to vet its content prior to transmitting. It was a unanimous Board decision. The proceedings will be recorded for distribution on a later date.
