ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING of the
WIRELESS INSTITUTE OF AUSTRALIA
Notice is hereby given that the Annual General Meeting of The Wireless Institute of Australia will be held on Saturday 13th May 2023 at 10.30am Australian Eastern Standard Time. The Annual General Meeting will be a Hybrid event which can be attended either in person or by video conference. The Annual General Meeting will be held at the Ann Harding Conference Centre, University of Canberra, Bruce in the ACT. The event can also be viewed on an internet streaming platform.
Notice of BUSINESS
1. To receive and consider the Annual Financial Statements, Directors Report and Independent Auditors report for the year ended 31 December 2022. A link is provided below for a copy of these documents.
2. To confirm the results of the election of Directors
3. To consider a Special Resolution to amend a typographical error in the Constitution of the Wireless Institute of Australia (WIA). This typographical error was picked up at the Annual General Meeting held in May 2022. The amendment to be as follows:-
That this meeting amends Clause 5.4 (e) of the constitution of the WIA that currently says
“(e) is expelled under clause 5.6; or”

4. To consider a Special Resolution to bestow Honorary Life Membership on Peter Young VK3MV.
The constitution of the Wireless Institute of Australia at Clause 5.3 (b) states that:- “The Board may in consideration of special services rendered to the Institute or Amateur Radio by a Member nominate the Member as an Honorary Life Member of the Institute. If the nomination is approved by a majority of the Members at a General Meeting entitled to vote at the meeting, the nominated Member shall be elected an Honorary Life Member. Any Honorary Life Member shall enjoy all the rights and privileges and be bound by the Constitution of the Institute as from time to time in force.”
The Board has resolved to recommend to the membership that Peter Young VK3MV be elected as an Honorary Life Member in consideration of his many years of exceptional service to the Wireless Institute of Australia.
Motion to be put is :- “That this Meeting of the Wireless Institute of Australia approve that
Peter Young VK3MV be elected as an Honorary Life Member of this Institute”

5. To transact any other business that may be brought before the meeting in accordance with the Institute’s Constitution

NOTES:
A member is entitled to appoint one proxy only who must be another Member, and that proxy is entitled to vote on a show of hands or on a poll. The Instrument of Proxy is downloadable from the WIA web site or at the link below, or upon written request to the National Office. Members must be financial to register to join the meeting either in person or by video conferencing facilities.
Members must register in order to participate in the Meeting. Registrations to participate will open on 20th April 2023 and close on 7th May 2023.
Members and Non-Members do not need to register to watch the internet streaming on the internet streaming platform. Details and a link to the internet streaming of the meeting will be published on the WIA news web site.
OPEN FORUM:
Immediately following the Annual General Meeting an Open Forum will be conducted. An additional detailed report will be submitted on behalf of the Board, by the Institute’s co-ordinators and those responsible for particular aspects of the Institutes activities. Any major issues affecting each area of responsibility will be identified.
Members are encouraged to discuss any matter arising from any of the reports, and to raise any other matter affecting Amateur Radio or the Institute. This format will avoid any restriction arising from the requirement to give notice of business to be formally raised at the AGM.
