Metropolitan Clubs

Taree & District Amateur Radio Club Inc. is a small but active club with members spread across the Manning Valley and surrounds. The club maintains 3 voice repeaters that cover the membership area.

The late VK2BGF Geoff Hunziker and a small team of amateurs formed the Taree Radio Club in about the mid to late 1970's. During the years since, various amateur call signs have been obtained, thanks to the tuition and support of Geoff and others, who provided classes for prospective amateurs.

New members are always welcome.

Meetings

The April meeting will be held on Saturday 10th April, as our usual 1st Saturday of the month meeting clashes with the Easter long weekend.

The meeting will be held at the QTH of Mark VK2AMS and will commence at 1400 hours local time.

Club Activities & Events

The club conducts a net every Monday night at 1930 hours on its 2m linked repeaters, VK2RET 146.825 and VK2RRE 146.675 MHz. The net controller uses the club call sign VK2FRE. All licensed amateurs are invited to join in.

The VK2REE 70CM repeater on 438.325 MHz has now been upgraded with an equipment change and increased power output. An analogue telemetry unit was added to allow remote access to on-site conditions and repeater function, the results of which are broadcast on the repeater.

The club does not currently conduct licensing courses, however guidance and assistance is available from members - just ask.
