Date : 29 / 07 / 2009
Author : Robert Broomhead - VK3DN

For those in VK5, why not drag out your worst old (working) radio from the shed and turn up to the special 891 ABC Radio Adelaide broadcast taking place from Victoria Square on Thursday 6 August. Be there for the judging of ABC's analogue radio Hall of Shame and be in the running for your old boat anchor to be exchanged for brand new digital radio if it is judged to be one of the three worst radios on display.

From an 891 ABC Adelaide News Release
In the lead up to their broadcast at the special consumer launch of digital radio next Thursday in Victoria Square, The Baldies Breakfast program on 891 are putting the call out to listeners to relinquish their (t)rustiest old radio in exchange for a digital one. 891 will be inducting some old radios into our "Hall of Shame" at the event, with the owners of the three most battered or most "loved" examples of analogue technology being rewarded with a brand new digital radio worth $300 in exchange for their old one. Yes that's right they have to hand it over on the day, Thursday 6 August at 891's broadcast point. Judging of the "worst" radios will be conducted by Bald Brothers John Kenneally and Tony McCarthy after they come off air at 7.45am. So listeners wanting the chance to swap old for new technology must come down to our site by 7.30am.
