Introduction

The Brisbane Amateur Radio Club was started in 1977.The club meets at the Rochedale scouts complex 21 Rochedale Road Rochedale.

Opposite the Optus dish and exchange. .Visitors are always welcome to attend our meetings and if you wish to join the club our Annual fee is $35.00.

Meetings

Social Meetings are held on the 2nd Friday of the month,meetings start at 7.30pm.

The 4th Saturday is a radio project/working bee day or licence training for members

Club Activities & Events

There are 2 club nets, one on Monday night commencing at 8pm on 29.100Mhz FM

Wednesday evenings a net is held on 439.950mhz starting at 8pm

New Sunday Night net on 6m 53.525 we are having some fun getting the right conditions for this net but loving it

We also run a parrot repeater on 145.225MHz and has a recording length of 3 mins, please use for test your equipment and antennas. and be careful as talking too loud will cause over modulation

We also conduct social morning nets on 147.925 Mhz for Monday,Wednesday and Friday starting at 8am.

We welcome all amateurs to join any of our nets, just join in and introduce yourself.

JOTA, BARC proudly assists the scouting movement to understand and enjoy Ham Radios, we enthusiastically encourage youngsters into our hobby via hands on activities

Training Courses And Assessment Information

The club has currently one new assessor together with an Accredited Learning Facilitator

We have previously run courses for members to achieve foundation licenses and this year we will continue to assist members on a request basis

Step one is understanding basic electronics and calculations necessary for the licence e.g. Ohms Law, Power, Capacitance and Induction etc. to understand how radios work, and is a hands on course
This can be done at home with several lessons emailed to members
