Introduction

The Gladstone Amateur Radio Club, Incorporated (ABN: 24 766 374 980) promotes and supports the hobby of Amateur radio in the Gladstone Region of Central Queensland, Australia.

Our Town Repeaters (VK4RGT)are located at Maurice Hill between Gladstone and Calliope on 146.625 MHz and 438.050 MHz. The IRLP Node is currently down for maintenance.
We also have use of VK4RGL (439.800, 91.5Hz CTCSS) at Mt. Larcom giving coverage into Yeppoon.
Linking with the Central Highlands ARC network thoughout the Bowen Basin to Mackay/Airlie Beach is our Kroombit Tops 2 metre Repeater (146.900MHz, VK4RGA)
On 53.725MHz. our 6 metre repeater is down at the moment but will be re-installed shortly with a 91.5 CTCSS at Kroombit Tops.
To aid users of the Kroombit Tops National Park and assist the local community we have installed a CBRS repeater (Ch04) at the vk4rga site. It is hoped it will help the residents of the Boyne Valley in disaster situations such as the recent floods where there was, effectively NO communications with the outside world.

Meetings

Club meetings are currently held at 7:30 PM on the first Thursday of every month (except January) at the SES Headquarters, Lamington Drive, Gladstone.

Club Activities & Events

We have carried out a full refurbishment of the VK4RGA site at Kroombit Tops N.P.
This includes replacement of 2mtr antenna with a phased dipole array. A Vertex VXR9000V forms the Repeater with a Vertex VX2200 as the Link.
Additional work saw the feeder cables for the 6mtr transmitter and APRS repeater upgraded to LDF4-50A. More recently new solar panels, MPPT regulator and batteries have been installed.
The 2 metre repeater which was linked to Bundaberg is now linked to the Central Highlands ARC's system which covers most of the Bowen Basin and through to Sarina/Mackay. When the Bundaberg end of the original setup is re-established, we are looking at installing another repeater to cover this lost "footprint."
A project is underway to replace a temporary test CBRS repeater at Kroombit Tops for use by Emergency Servises and the general public.
