Introduction
The Gladstone Amateur Radio Club promotes and supports the hobby of Amateur radio in the Gladstone Region of Central Queensland, Australia.
Our Town Repeaters (VK4RGT)are located at Maurice Hill in Gladstone on 146.625 MHz and IRLP node 6246 on 438.050 MHz.
We also have use of VK4RGL (439.800, 91.5Hz CTCSS) at Mt. Larcom on which the WIA and QNews is broadcast each Sunday at 10.30hrs local.
Linking with the Bundaberg ARC on 146.800Mhz (VK4RBU at Mt. Goonanamen) our Kroombit Tops 2 metre Repeater (146.900MHz, VK4RGA) extends coverage to Rockhampton and beyond.
On 53.725MHz. our 6 metre repeater, also at Kroombit Tops is the only such installation between Brisbane and Atherton Tableland
Meetings
Club meetings are held at 7:30 PM on the first Monday of every month (except January) at the SES Headquarters, Lamington Drive, Gladstone.
Club Activities & Events
We have recently carried out a full refurbishment of the VK4RGA site at Kroombit Tops N.P.
This includes replacement of 2mtr antenna with a phased dipole array and a 16 element yagi for link to VK4RBU. A new Vertex VXR9000V forms the Repeater with a Vertex VX2200 as the Link.
Additional work saw the feeder cables for the 6mtr transmitter and APRS repeater upgraded to LDF4-50A
