New BPL Interference Measurement Reports from Tasmania

Date : 20 / 04 / 2006
Author : Phil Wait - VK2DKN

The Radio and Electronics Association of Southern Tasmania (REAST) have now completed a new series of interference emission level measurements of the BPL commercial trials in Tasmania. These measurements were made using FSM software developed by Owen Duffy (VK1OD) and Ed Hare (W1RFI) and clearly show that there is a degradation of the noise floor in all the trial areas and as such, these emissions would be likely to cause interference to almost all radiocommunications services that were limited by ambient noise.

These trials use second generation (200 Mb/s) DS2 technology.

The reports can be viewed on the REAST website vi the following Link
or by clicking on the reports below.

The WIA would like to thank Owen Duffy VK1OD, Ed Hare W1RFI, Justin Giles-Clark VK7TW and REAST club members for their efforts in the fight against BPL interference.
