WIA Board increases amount for distribution to Clubs in Grant Scheme

Author : Michael Owen - VK3KI

At the WIA Annual General Meeting held in Sydney on 6 May 2006 WIA President Michael Owen VK3KI announced that the Board had finalised the Rules of the Club Grant Scheme and had allocated $1,500 for distribution among qualifying clubs to support projects meeting the objectives of the Scheme.

The WIA Board met in Menai, Sydney, on Sunday 7 May, following the AGM. The Board considered the financial reports submitted by Treasurer Bruce Bathols, and noted the interest that had already been shown in the Grant Scheme by a number of clubs.

As briefly mentioned in the release made that day when the full Rules were placed on the WIA website, the Board decided to increase the amount for distribution from $1,500, the figure it had budgeted when in it met on 17 and 18 February this year, to $5,000.

The Board believes that the higher amount would encourage clubs to seek worthy projects to participate in the scheme, and would make any grants much more meaningful.

All clubs are urged to carefully study the Rules and note the date for lodgement of submission on the WIA website, as well as the requirement that to qualify a club must have at least 50% WIA members among its members.

Affiliated Clubs are urged to read the Rules very carefully. The Board will amend the Rules as necessary to clarify any ambiguities that are identified.
