SADARC Hamfest report

Date : 12 / 09 / 2006
Author : Bruce Bathols - VK3UV

On Sunday 10 Sept 2006, approx 200 amateurs attended the annual hamfest at Shepparton, run by the Shepparton And District Amateur Radio Club (SADARC). The weather was excellent and trade was brisk for the 20 plus traders. Many bargains were obtained by the early attendees. The WIA was represented by the National Treasurer Bruce Bathols VK3UV, who answered many questions from members, and also signed up several new members.

The WIA Bookshop samples were in high demand. Callbooks and Foundation Licence manuals were also popular, as well as some of our merchandising items. Several caps and shirts with the WIA logo embossed thereon were of interest.

The WIA is able to obtain many text books from the ARRL and RSGB, and our display kit enables prospective purchasers to browse the books prior to purchase. Orders were taken and delivery is usually available within seven days.

The WIA Bookshop is administered by Chris Flak, VK2QV who is in close contact with the WIA office staff.
Because the WIA purchases these books in bulk, it means large savings can be obtained in freight and handling costs, and this is passed on to members in the discounted prices.

SADARC is to be congratulated in the arranging of the hamfest.

Treasurer
