Introduction

The GRES was founded in 1963 when a group of Radio Amateurs saw the need to further advance their and others’ skills and knowledge in an ever-widening range of fields of electronics. This continues today, as our Club offers members opportunities to learn and share special interests in new technologies.

We are enthusiastic not just about Amateur Radio and its many traditional and new digital modes, but also in a broad range of electronic applications such as Micro-controllers, 3D printing, Robotic devices and related software, as these become more interestingly complex yet more accessible than ever to the ordinary person.

We encourage membership for people of all ages and levels of experience, whether licensed radio amateurs or not. If you are interested or would like to learn and experiment in any of these fields, please contact us.

Meetings

Our Club meets every Tuesday evening from 1900 Hrs (7pm) in our club meeting room or alternatively via our Zoom option for those who may prefer not to attend in person.

The club conducts the VK3ANR 2-metre Net every Wednesday night at 2000 Hrs (8pm) on 146.525 MHz FM simplex. Everyone is more than welcome to join us for a chat.

Club Activities & Events

We occasionally schedule Guest Speakers at our weekly meetings on topics of interest, and there are usually presentations by members on activities in their areas of expertise.

Unfortunately due our Club’s recent eviction from our long-held clubrooms by the local Council, we are currently unable to offer the range of practical radio and electronics workshop activities that we had previously made available to our members and guests – but as they say, “watch this space”!

We are celebrating our club’s 60th Anniversary this year, and there’s lots of plans in the pipeline!

Please check the Calendar on our web site for details of our forthcoming meeting activities and items of interest.
