Suburban Clubs

The GRES was founded in 1964 when a group of Amateurs saw the need to further advance their knowledge and to educate others in various other electronic fields.This is still being carried out today.We are also active in maintaining a very large Historic and Antique radio museum,which is situated in The Old Geelong Gaol,and is open for inspection to the public on normal open days.

Club meets every Thursday evening at 2000 Hrs (8.00 PM)except Easter.

Club Activities & Events

Our club is very active in the promotion of Radio & Electronics to various groups such as Scouts.Guides and several of the local Schools.

We have a Monday evening net on both HF & VHF,and a Slow Scan net on Wednesday evenings.

We have been active in constructions such as HF Screw Driver antenna, 2m and UHF Yagi and a HB9CV for 2m. Other recent projects have included a CTCSS module and a Power meter. We have planned an LC meter project for later in the year.

We participate in the John Moyle field day and the Lighthouse Weekend.

Recently members have formed an informal Arduino SIG

Training Courses And Assessment Information

Training courses for Standard licence have commenced , they are held on Thursday evenings before Club meeting. Starting time is 1900 hrs(7 O'clock PM).
