Introduction

Since 1970 WANSARC has been providing amateur radio and electronics enthusiasts in the Northern and Western Suburbs of Melbourne with a forum for the sharing of knowledge and experiences. The club has a good balance of young, not so young, and spiritually young members, with a wealth of experience and knowledge available to members in the fields of amateur radio, electronics and computing.

Meetings

WANSARC meets on generally the first MONDAY of each month (excluding January) at 2000 hours.

Exceptions may include Easter and the Melbourne Cup Weekend depending on the calendar - check the WANSARC website for programmed meeting dates www.wansarc.org.au

The venue for meetings is the 1st Strathmore Scout Hall, 138B Lebanon Street, Strathmore.

The club also uses 146.450MHz FM Simplex as a liaison and general chat frequency. Feel free to pop up and have a chat.

Club Activities & Events

WANSARC is a club which invites all family members to share in our hobby.

The club hosts lectures, participates in tours to facilities, construction nights, general natter nights and surplus amateur equipment auctions/swap meets.

The club holds social events from time to time during each year, with a club BBQ on one of our meeting nights, Christmas in July for members and their families each year (on demand) and a subsidized multi-course Christmas Dinner in December of each year.

The club invites participation from family, friends, partners and others for all of these events.

WANSARC also participates in the John Moyle Field Day competition, with a growing band of enthusiastic members.

WANSARC won the 6 hour multi-operator all bands category for six consecutive years 2007-2008-2009-2010-2011-2012 and continues to share the thrills of portable operating at every opportunity.

WANSARC also supports Scouts & Girl Guides each year during the JOTA/JOTI October weekend and welcomes the opportunity to provide communications in support of scout and guide activities.
