Suburban Clubs

We are located in Shepparton, Victoria, Australia. Our club's call sign is VK3SOL and it is an abbreviation of SOLAR. (Shepparton was also known as Solar City some years back.) Our region is called Goulburn Valley, and it is famous for its fruits (peaches, pears, apricots, apples, plums), SPC-Ardmona fruit cannery and many dairy farms around. Radio Australia has made its home here with huge transmitters and antenna arrays.
We meet on the first Saturday of the month, except January, at 1:00 pm in the Scout & Guide Complex, Echuca Rd, Mooroopna. Membership is not restricted to licensed amateur radio operators: anyone with interest in radios, electronics or computers is welcomed to join in.

The club is well equipped to cater for various ham radio operators interests as well as provide facilities during JOTA.

Our radio repeaters have been on Mt Wombat near Eurora for over 26 years, the call signs are all VK3RGV (Repeater Goulburn Valley). Its purpose is to provide communication during emergencies as well as to enable licensed amateurs to communicate throughout a large part of Victoria. It has an excellent coverage area extending from Melbourne to southern parts of New South Wales.

The Club's repeaters are operational on:
6M 53.725 Mhz, 2M 146.650 MHz, 70cm 439.775 MHz, & D-STAR VK3RGV B 438.200 Mhz with -5.4 offset.

The IRLP node was established on the 11th November 2006, and the node number is 6992. It operates on our 2M repeater.

Meetings

Club meetings are held on the first Saturday of each month at 1pm at our Clubrooms the Scout and Guide hall Echuca Road Mooroopna (Pictured above).

Club Activities & Events

Club nets are held on Wednesdays on 80m 3.620 MHz at 7:00pm local time, and on VK3RGV 2M 146.650 MHz at 8:00pm with VK3SOL as Net Controller.

WIA News is rebroadcast on VK3RGV 7.30pm Sundays.

The SADARC HAMFEST is held each year on the 2nd Sunday in SEPTEMBER at St Augustine's hall, Orr Street Shepparton. Doors open for the traders at 7.00am and visitors at 10am.The venue is well catered for, entry fee still remains at $5
