Suburban Clubs

SPARC began at a meeting to form an Amateur Radio Club on the Southern Mornington Peninsula held at Rosebud on the 4th June 1979. The Club moved its headquarters several times before settling into our present location in 2019 at the Vern Wright Reserve, Elizabeth Avenue, Capel Sound.

Since its beginning, the club has grown into a very active club with a broad range of members from all over the Southern Mornington Peninsula. The major event held each year by SPARC is the Rosebud RadioFest, held at the Eastbourne Primary School each November.

Meetings

The Club meets every Thursday morning and every Saturday morning from 9.30 a.m. until 12 noon at the SPARC Clubrooms at the Vern Wright Reserve, 66C Elizabeth Avenue, Capel Sound VIC 3940.

Club Activities & Events

SPARC members conduct a 2 metre net every Sunday morning at 9:30AM via VK3RSP on Arthurs Seat which has an output frequency of 146.675 MHz, a negative offset of 600KHz and a CTSS of 88.5Hz. VK3RSP is sponsored and maintained by SPARC as a service to Amateur Radio operators in the area and also provides a free access IRLP Node, Node 6330 connected via this repeater.

An 80 Meter net is held every Tuesday evening at 8PM on 3640KHz or slightly higher if QRM.

Training Courses And Assessment Information

SPARC conducts courses for candidates wishing to qualify for Foundation or Standard licences. Assessments are also conducted by SPARC assessors at times that are mutually convenient. Further details are available on the SPARC website www.sparc.asn.au.
